Rapid Prototyping promotes innovation in the automotive sector

The automotive sector contains many different realities, from the brand everyone can buy which relies on comfort and functionality to the luxury brands which enhances the cited aspects and focusing on design and art. Particularly interesting are also sporty car manufacturers, which keep competing to find solutions more and more revolutionary.

Even if these realities that may seem so different, they are unified by a common necessity: R&D. In the Automotive sector, especially in high-profile companies, investments are mainly toward new talents and new technologies to build vehicles more and more efficient, functional, performant, attractive, eco-friendly and safe.

In the last years, rapid prototyping techniques played a fundamental role in promoting innovation in this field, offering a fast, cheap and efficient solution to realize components coherent with the demanding standards of the sector. Items developed can be used as both a prototype and final components.

Specifically, rapid prototype allows to:

  • Easily built complex shapes, giving life to ideas that were difficult, if not impossible, to realise until some years ago;
  • Build complex geometries in a single piece thanks to the additive technology. This thing allow the planner to design a single digital model. In this way, there is no need to think about the realisation created in more pieces that have to be welded;
  • Work on a wide spectrum of materials according to the technique used, from plastic for lights to tires and metals;
  • Promote a tailored approach when products are created.

PARTEC offers his capabilities in the rapid prototyping field for the automotive sector.
During our decades of experience, we have collaborated (and are still working) with important firms of the field such as Ferrari, Ducati, Aprilia, Lamborghini e Honda. Using the vacuum casting technology, we produce small series of products with aesthetic features and dimensional precision extremely similar to the ones of the finished product. We just need 10 days to satisfy every necessity our clients may have thanks to the huge range of materials at our disposal: we can build gums with a hardness from 30 to 90 ShoreA and we can make them resistant to hydrocarbon. The most required resin in the sector is PX223HT, similar to ABS (a plastic material used to build the final product) and it is used to create fairings, scuff plates and tanks.
In addition, rapid prototyping allows the replication of unavailable pieces formerly build for auto and motion of epoch.

Since 1999, PARTEC is the ideal partner for those companies that want to rapidly transform their ideas in winning projects.
